I was born and grew up just outside of Athens, Georgia. I have two little sisters and spent a lot of time playing "school" with them and teaching them what I learned at school. Maybe I knew even then that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up!
I still remember my second grade year in school. My favorite subject in school was reading, and my favorite specials were music and art. I still love to draw and play music!
I went to college at Berry College in Rome, Georgia for my Bachelor Degree. I loved living there because my dorm building (where students live) looked like a castle! I go back every fall when the leaves change colors and visit.
After I graduated from Berry, I went to Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia for a Master's Degree.
Even though I never went to the University of Georgia, I am a Bulldawg fan through and through!
Now, I live in Bethlehem with my husband and two crazy cats, Bella and Samson. My favorite things to do are cooking, gardening, reading, and listening to music. My favorite kinds of books are mysteries, but I also like fantasy books like Harry Potter, and nonfiction books where I can learn new things. I also like to sing and play the piano and flute.
I started teaching at Bethlehem Elementary in 2008. Second grade is my favorite grade I've taught so far. My favorite subject to teach is science. I believe teaching is one of the most rewarding careers because I get to witness children learning new skills and understanding concepts that they did not understand before. I love seeing the "light bulb" come on when everything clicks!
